Weldability

Fusion welding performance for 304 square stainless steel is excellent both filled and unfilled. Recommended filler bars and electrodes for 304 square stainless steel are 308 stainless steel. Recommended filler for 304L is 308L. Heavily welded sections may require post-weld annealing. This step is not required for 304L. If post-weld heat treatment is not possible, 321 grade stainless steel can be used.

Special Properties

It is resistant to high temperature oxidation up to about 800 C and has very good mechanical and friction resistance. Continuous use is not recommended at 400-800C. Welding can be done, but the internal structure may be damaged. It can be bent and expanded. It is used in chemistry, petrochemistry and boilers, pipes and heat exchangers. It is used in household appliances, industrial kitchens and automotive industry.
